Why Choose Pippins

Pippins Nursery provides a stimulating and fun learning environment that encourages your child to develop and thrive.

Not only do we have ‘Location, Location, Location’, but we have a great team of caring, enthusiastic and experienced staff who maximise the available opportunities and experiences for the children.

Meet our team:

Ann Troth, Nursery Manager

Ann has been at Pippins for seven years and loves being surrounded by the energy and curiosity of the children. As a Mum of four she’s kept busy at home and at work and her Grandson attends Pippins too!

A keen runner, Ann has completed several half marathons and is always in training for her next challenge!

Sonya Downe, Deputy Manager

Sonya has been a Pippins for ten years, having fallen in love with the nursery when her son attended at the age of three. She is proud to watch the children grow in confidence and learn new skills during their time at Pippins.

Sonya is our resident gardener and helps the children plant seeds and pick vegetables throughout the seasons.

Sally Jones, Nursery Practitioner

Sally is the newest member of the Pippins team after joining in January 2019, but she comes with plenty of experience, having worked in childcare for the last 18 years.

Sally was attracted to Pippins’ friendly and welcoming atmosphere and brings with her a positive energy that the children love.

Sally’s love of sport and the outdoors makes her the perfect fit for the culture here at Pippins.

Claire Downing, Nursery Practitioner

Claire joined the Pippins team in September 2022, she has over 34 years experience working with early years children.

Claires interests include going to the gym where she does a variety of classes and she is also a keen runner and has completed the London Marathon twice.

We are also pleased to have dedicated bank staff available to us:

Emma Cantle           Nursery Practitioner (bank staff)

Emma’s children attended Pippins.  She is a keen gardener, and often brings her chicken “Chickpea” in to see the children – which they love!

Every child receives focused attention and individualised learning because of the smaller numbers we have at the nursery. All children are encouraged to explore the world around them through a variety of indoor and outdoor learning activities, stimulating their minds and fuelling their sense of adventure and discovery.

In our 2017 Ofsted inspection Pippins was rated “Good” in all areas with Ofsted   commenting: “Parents and their children are warmly welcomed at the start of each session.  Staff make time to speak to parents and keep them informed about their children’s care and achievements”.

Our policies and procedures are based on those of the Pre-School Learning Alliance underpin the children’s well-being and security which is at the heart of everything we do. Policies and procedures are available on request from the Nursery Manager.

To help create the best learning environment for your child, a number of attendance options are available. Please see the Session Times and Fees page for more information about session availability and charges.
